The Truth I Never Expected

Josh spoke softly.

“I took Tom for a walk. He wanted to see the neighbor’s dog.”

I nodded.

“We passed Mr. Delaney’s house,” he continued. “I heard something… like a fall.”

My stomach tightened.

“He was on the porch,” Josh said. “He wasn’t moving much.”

The officer stepped in.

“Mr. Delaney has a heart condition.”
