“I told Tom to stay where he was. Then I ran over.”

He swallowed.

“I called emergency services. They told me what to do… and I stayed with him.”

The officer nodded.

“He followed every instruction. He kept him conscious. He didn’t leave.”

Josh shrugged slightly.

“I just didn’t want him to be alone.”

Everything inside me shifted.
