P2: The silence in the ballroom was deafening.

Caleb’s mouth opened, but no words came out.

Adrian looked back at me, his expression softening instantly.

“Come with me,” he said. “There’s thirty years of lost time I need to make up for. Starting tonight.”

I looked at Caleb one last time — the man who had spent years making me feel small, worthless, invisible.

Then I placed my hand in Adrian’s.

As we walked out of the ballroom together, I heard the whispers explode behind us.

But for the first time in twelve years, I wasn’t walking in the back.

I was walking beside the man who had never stopped loving me.

And I was finally, truly seen.
