Soma hesitated.
“Yes,” she admitted.
He studied her for a moment, then nodded.
“That is honest,” he said.
She frowned slightly.
“I don’t understand something,” she added carefully. “Did you ask for this marriage?”
A brief silence followed.
Then Baba Akutu shook his head.
“No.”
Soma blinked.
“Then why did you agree?”
His lips curved into a faint smile.
“Because sometimes what looks like a burden is not what it seems.”
Her confusion deepened.
But before she could ask more, he opened the gate.
“Come inside,” he said.
