“You’ve seen how your mother has been treating me, right? Am I her slave?”
“What do you mean by that? Since morning, you’ve been cooking and cleaning. After you made breakfast, she said she wasn’t eating. Then she went into the kitchen, cooked her own meal, and now she’s telling me that even though the kitchen is dirty, I should clean it.”
“So cleaning up after my mother is now a problem? Do you hear yourself right now?”
“Your mom has been here for two weeks making my life a living hell. Can’t you see that?”
“She’s only trying to make our home perfect. She doesn’t mean any harm. I’m her only son, and she wants the best for us.”
“Really? Well, I don’t need her help. Please tell her to leave.”
“She will leave when she wants to. Do you know how much that woman has sacrificed for me, and you’re asking me to tell my mother to leave?”
“Okay, so that’s how it is, right? No problem. I know what to do.”
“Mom, she has been a pain in my neck, and I don’t know what to do.”
“What nonsense! Your husband is acting like a little boy. He can’t stand up to his own mother. How does he want to start a family like that?”
“Mom, I’m tired, honestly. I’ve talked, I’ve pleaded. Anytime she comes, she spends at least two weeks here and makes the house hotter than fire. She makes me feel unwanted. She once told me I can’t break the bond between her and her son. And my husband just stands there and watches her do all that.”
“I’m highly disappointed in him. That’s nonsense. His mother has him under her spell.”
“I don’t know what to do, Mom. I really don’t know.”
“You know what? I’ll tell my girls at the shop that I’m traveling for a week. My daughter must enjoy her marriage, and that woman must leave. That house will not contain both of us. Your husband must put his family first. Call your husband and tell him I’m coming over to spend some time.”
“Okay, Mom. I can’t wait.”
“Good afternoon, the woman who gave birth to my lovely angel. How are you doing, Ma?”
“I’m good, my dear. We give God all the glory. I’m here to relax my mind and spend some time with my daughter.”
“We’re so happy to have you, Mom. Well, Mom, I’m sure Judith told you my mother is also here spending some time with us. Let me call her to come and greet you.”
“Okay, dear. Go ahead.”
“All right. One moment. Mom, she’s here.”
“Who is here?”
“Judith’s mother. I told you she was coming over.”
“Yes, that’s true. I hope she’s not staying too long.”
