Many may look at this photo and see only the scars, the visible battle in each mark on my face, and the weariness in my eyes. But when I look at it, I see proof that, despite everything, I am still here, resisting.
I would not let cancer define me.
I would not let it take my spirit.
This photo was taken on a difficult day. My body was weak, my face was hurting, and the machines were working around me. But I wanted to send a message.
So I held that paper. I wrote those words slowly, with shaking hands:
“Cancer shall not overcome me. God will help me. Amen.”
And then… I gave a thumbs up.
That thumbs up is not because everything is okay. It is not because I am strong all the time. It is because I choose to keep fighting, even when I am afraid.
My strength does not come from my body anymore. It comes from something deeper. It comes from faith. I believe that God is with me in every moment—when I am in pain, when I am tired, when I feel alone.
He gives me hope.
Every day is now a battle, but also a gift. I have learned to appreciate small things—the sound of a voice, the warmth of a hand, the quiet peace of a moment without pain.
I am not sharing this story to ask for pity.
I am sharing it because I want you to know that even in the darkest moments… there is still light.
If you are fighting something in your life, please don’t give up. Even when it feels impossible, there is still a reason to keep going.
And if you can, say a small prayer—not just for me, but for everyone who is fighting a battle like this.
Because sometimes, hope is the strongest medicine we have.
I am still here.
And I am still fighting.
Amen. 🙏
