Suspicion and the Hidden Camera
A week after Nia started, I noticed large bruises and redness on the twins’ thighs and legs. Every morning, their eyes were swollen—clearly from crying all night.
My blood boiled. Valerie made it worse.
“Babe, I told you! That dark maid is pinching and beating your kids at night! Fire her!”
I wanted to drag Nia straight to the police—but as a businessman, I needed solid evidence. Since I had to fly to Dubai the next day, I secretly installed a high-definition night-vision CCTV camera in the twins’ room, connected to my phone.
In Dubai, I couldn’t sleep. Around 3 a.m. (Philippine time), I opened the live feed. I expected to see Nia hurting my children.
But what I saw stopped my world.
The Miracle in the Night
A dim light was on. Nia wasn’t sleeping. She sat on the floor between the twins’ beds.
She was drenched in sweat, holding a small bottle of warm herbal oil. Slowly, she removed the blankets and began massaging and bending their lifeless legs. Relentlessly, tirelessly—this was the cause of the bruises.
It was intense, painful traditional physical therapy that paid nurses refused to do.
I turned on the audio.
“You can do it, my children. Keep fighting,” Nia whispered through tears.
“The doctors said you’ll never walk—but don’t believe them. You’re so brave. One day, you’ll run to your father and make him happy again.”
“A-Ate Nia… it hurts…” Mateo cried weakly.
My eyes widened. My son spoke! For three years they had been silent—but now they were talking to her.
“I know it hurts,” she said, kissing their foreheads. “That’s how fighting feels. I promised your mother, Clara. She saved my life when I was homeless. She fed me and secretly sent me to school. Now that she’s gone, I’ll give everything to help you walk again.”
As she continued, she sang a soft lullaby—Clara’s favorite song.
Then… Marcus’s toe moved.
I gasped in my hotel room.
Nia saw it too. She fell to her knees, crying and thanking God. The legs declared “dead” by the world’s best doctors showed signs of life—because of her love and determination.
I broke down in tears.
The Monster Revealed
The next morning in the Philippines, while preparing to return home, I saw Valerie enter the twins’ room. Her face was no longer gentle. She held a syringe.
“You’re ruining my life, you burdens,” she hissed.
“If you die, all of Rafael’s wealth will be mine.”
Before she could inject the poison, Nia rushed in.
“Ma’am Valerie! What are you doing?!”
“You meddling dark woman!” Valerie screamed—and smashed a heavy vase onto Nia’s head.
Nia collapsed, bleeding—but still clung to the children to protect them.
“I’ll kill you all!” Valerie shrieked.
Judgment
I didn’t wait to return home. From Dubai, I activated the emergency alarm connected to my security team.
Within seconds, armed guards stormed in and restrained Valerie.
Through the intercom, my voice thundered:
“Valerie! I saw everything! I know what you are!”
She turned pale.
“R-Rafael! Please! I didn’t mean it!”
“Arrest her. Prepare the medical team for Nia. File attempted murder charges. She will rot in prison.”
She was dragged away screaming—with nothing.
Redemption
When I returned, I went straight to the hospital. Nia lay in bed, bandaged, while my sons sat beside her, crying and holding her hand.
I knelt before her, kissed her hand, and wept.
“Nia… forgive me. You saved my children. You gave us hope. I owe you everything.”
She smiled through tears.
“I only did what was right, Sir. For Ma’am Clara.”
From that day on, I burned her maid’s uniform. She was no longer an employee.
I made her the legal second mother of my children—and a director in my company.
With her care and the doctors’ help, one year later… Mateo and Marcus finally stood up—and walked.
I learned that true wealth is not found in skin color or beauty—but in a pure heart willing to sacrifice everything to save the helpless.
